International style—from Asian to Mediterranean—has worked its way across various oceans and into our homes. Our room of the month by interior designer Chris Barrett is a Moroccan paradise. Once a bedroom, this elaborate California bathroom features hand-cut tiles, a wooden fretwork canopy and a plaster ceiling designed to incorporate Moorish symbols original to the home's architecture. Take a dip in this tub and you'll truly feel out of this world—or at least out of this continent. More Designers' Portfolio rooms >>

| During her recent international jaunts for Home Depot's Expo design centers, Taylor Hastie, director of design and trend analysis, was seeing black everywhere. At the Maison et Objet show in Paris she spied Rococo-style black glass crystal chandeliers and whole rooms that were black. "It was very dramatic, but you have to wonder how a black chandelier will interpret down to Middle America," she says. Hastie does see Americans embracing a Chanel-like black-and-white stripe, using Bisazza black-and-white tiles or working with the Asian-inspired metallic charcoal blacks that are already popular in Europe.
